This annual festival goes for a week culminating with the Miss Heilala crowning.
Opening night was a street parade.
The NZ High Commissioner was dishing out free sausage hot dogs to hungry Tongans and us too.
The Japanese embassy had a floor show and across the street was a DJ and band belting out competing sounds to the taiko drums… so a cacophony of sound.
Tonga is often not a quiet place!
Flashing head-gear, illuminated rings and Darth Vader swords were for sale everywhere.
Suzanne a loan NZ volunteer can be seen here making her way through the swarming crowd on her trusty ‘steed’.
WOW!!!! it never seems to be quiet, nor a dull moment, nor a chance to be laid back. You guys are always amongst the action. How fantastic. XX TT
