Broni guest #18 gets shown the sights

Broni was safely collected on time from the airport and was tucked into bed by 4.00am. The events of the previous day are not going to interrupt our life or her holiday.
We had a lazy morning doing the bank, police paperwork and sipping fresh coconuts before popping out to Keleti beach for a dip.

The ocean was incredibly calm and the water crystal clear. After a cocktail at billfish bar we headed home for a shower before dining Korean.

While we sat on the restaurant veranda a big storm blew in so Choy the creative owner just grabbed some sheets of cardboard to keep out the rain. It worked beautifully.

Out of the house by 11.am. Had the ‘Ahopanilolo tour followed by a yummy student- made morning tea/ lunch ‘snack’ before Broni and i headed to the west coast.
The blow holes were whimpering and blowing pathetic little squirts. It rained for most of the ‘tour’ but we didn’t care. A beer on the terrace at Likualofa resort soon made everything look rosy again.

We were joined for dinner at the Curry Hut one table restaurant by Heidi a German teaching who has taken a post here for two years and Mary one of the new Aussie volunteers.

Had an early start. Kotoni went to work and Broni and I headed to the East coast for that tour… stopping at the airport Scenic Hotel for lunch and a swim. We had the place to ourselves and felt like we were in a palace as the pool area is quite luxurious and a nice oasis for a little palangi escape on an oppressively hot day of driving around with no aircon. We are getting just too soft!!!

On our way we called into the landbridge cliffs and discovered how to scramble through six foot high grassy track to a wild and beautiful beach. Thank god Tonga is snake free!

It was amazing we found the entrance to the track at all

We ate dinner outside on the front verandah as it was stinking hot. Kotoni cooked mahimahi stir fry and we ate double choc tim tams brought by our dinner guest…volunteer Rei.
