The weekend has been an opportunity to do a little sightseeing.

Myanmar is predominately Buddhist which brings a certain calmness to busy Yangon.

Even at the crowded Shwedagon Pagoda one can find a quiet shady spot to chat or have a pagoda picnic!

(Above) It is important to find your birth day corner and say a prayer, light a candle and pour water over the Buddha. This is my corner – Sunday.

We have to come back once the bamboo covering is removed… with all the gold and gems it will be magnificent.

  1. Sonia, can you remind me why the people put that light paste on their cheeks? I think I was told once, but it has evaporated from my memory. Ta Mel
