Up up and away

Volunteering in a tourist mecca has certain advantages. This morning we spent a delightful couple of hours experiencing wafting like a cloud.

The alarm beeped at 4.30am and we strolled through the sleepy streets to our nearby pick up point with Balloons Over Bagan (BOB).After safety briefings and a cuppa everyone jumped into their baskets and we gently lifted off… up up and away. There was a flotilla of about a dozen balloons this morning. My 80 year old Mum was reluctant to go but once we were up she didn’t want to come down! There is something medieval and magical about ballooning here and the BOB team run an extremely slick operation.

While we hovered over villages and those ubiquitous temples they raced ahead in the BOB bus šŸšŒ to our final destination.Ballooning is not exact science and your landing location depends on the wind which varies at altitudes.

Robert our expert pilot made a textbook landing and our basket gently touched down onto a ploughed field.

Thanks BOB for a memorable sunrise.
