The Sanon team who went to Yangon were able to use their past months of English and hospitality training in a completely different setting during this work experience trip.
They did various shifts, had to manage their time, understand hierarchical structures, learn the finer points of grooming and presentation and be part of new teams.
The journey home was a tad quicker for me as I’d promised to show The Hobbit at the Sunday afternoon English movie club. I skipped the joys of the return bus and flew back to Bagan early Sunday morning.
The others arrived home safely on Monday feeling very tired but with a huge sense of accomplishment.
As their participation in the hotel progressed, the students and staff member gained more confidence. All agreed it was a most enlightening experience. The few days in Yangon will resonate for a long time to come.
The team happily shared their experiences with their colleagues on their return.
A big thank-you to the Yangon Novotel Hotel for allowing the Sanon team to take part in the work experience.
Sounds great Gordon. A successful experience, hopefully to become an annual opportunity. Well done to you & Sonia, for launching! Good that you could take a return flight..save your back!
