We were very fortunate to discover Lei Thar Gone (‘a gentle breeze’) social enterprise guest house at Yenangyaung when we first arrived in Myanmar.
It oozes hospitality and is an oasis in the dry surrounding lands. Reclining in the bamboo chairs taking in the view with a pre-dinner whisky sour is simply divine.
We’ve come for a quick visit to see a fellow passionate volunteer – Therese who comes here twice a year from Switzerland to teach English and build the capacity of the guest house team.
Gordon’s little gift of three watermelons 🍉 was well received!
We also delivered Sophie – an Australian trainee teacher who will spend a few days at the Light of Love school helping Marie another young French volunteer. The school is just up the hill from the guest house and is certainly a place to visit when you stay – if school is in!
